Miscellaneous Monsters

Like the little extras that people never notice, lots of times there are computer generated creatures in movies or TV shows that people fail to see. Here are some descriptions of creatures you may or may not have noticed.

Eraser - In Eraser, Arnold Schwarzenegger's character is forced to battle and alligator that has escaped it's pen. The alligators were produced by Industrial Light and Magic.

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys - In the Hercules myths from ancient Greece, there were plenty of monsters that the hero had to contend with. The same works for this televison production. In Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, there are lots of creatures, almost all of them created solely with computers. Kevin O'Neill of Renaissance Pictures works with a lot of the creatures used by the show. See the related links section below for an interview with Kevin.

SeaQuest - NBC's ill fated sci-fi show about a futuristic submarine was a large haven for special effects. All of the underwater shots were created with CG, and that meant that a lot of underwater creatures, alligators, whales, etc, were done that way too. One creature in particular stood out, a large prehistoric alligator. The shots showed the creature on land as well as in the ocean, and while it wasn't of the quality of Jurassic Park dinosaurs, it was nothing to snort at either.

Waterworld - When Kevin Costner decided to go fishing in this movie, he didn't go halfway. He caught what appeared to be a giant sea-creature, with a massive hinged jaw. The creature was only visible for a few seconds, but that was all it took to get a glimpse of an interesting computer generated animal.Like the little extras that people never notice, lots of times there are computer generated creatures in movies or TV shows that people fail to see.
