John
Clyde is a senior at New Plymouth High School in rural New Plymouth,
Idaho. He has academic interests in mathematics and the sciences. John
is a leading figure in high school mathematics contests in the United States.
He was invited to the prestigious Math Olympiad Summer Program in both
his sophomore and junior years. He hopes to compete for the United States
at the International Math Olympiad this year. In his spare time, he likes
to do challenging math problems, play basketball, play percussion instruments,
and eat roasted chicken. John is a member of New Plymouth High's Business
Professionals of America club, math team, and basketball team.
Johann
Schleier-Smith, the captain of this team, is a senior at Thomas
Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in suburban Alexandria,
Virginia. Johann's research interests include computer science and physics.
He has done very well in science fair competitions earning high honors
up to the state level for the last several years. In his spare time, Johann
enjoys moutaineering, playing basketball, running, and photography. Johann
is a member of TJ's varsity track team and varsity
math team.
Greg
Tseng is a senior at Thomas
Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in suburban Alexandria,
Virginia. Greg is currently pursuing a long-term physics research project.
He has done very well with his mathematics projects in the science fair
earning high honors up to the state level. Greg is also a participant in
high school mathematics competitions having been invited to take the United
States Mathematics Olympiad every year in high school. In his spare time,
he likes to play tennis, play basketball, listen to music, and surf the
net. He is a co-Captain of TJ's varsity
math team and is a member of the varsity tennis team.
Robert
Latham, the head coach of this team, is the director of the Optics
and Modern Physics Technology Laboratory at Thomas
Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. He has coached students
through thousands of projects including many which have earned top honors
at the International Science and Engineering Fair and the Westinghouse
Science Talent Search. A devoted physics researcher, Robert is an instrumental
member of the highly-acclaimed Jefferson faculty.
Duane
Higley is a keyboarding and business teacher at New Plymouth High
School. He is also advisor of the New Plymouth chapter of Busines Professionals
of America (BPA). Last year, Duane brought his award-winning school team
to BPA national conference at Pheonix, Arizona. He is also the coach of
the varsity baseball team, volleyball team, and girl's basketball team.
Duane also teaches US History at night school.
