Web Designer & Chief Programmer
TQ Experience: In January of 1996 the "Internet" was a topic of conversation I stayed away from when ever it came up with people I happened to be with simply because I didn't have a clue what in the world it was. Much to my surprise that's exactly what it is, "the WORLD." In some respects anyway. In February I heard about this contest through a friend of mine who planed on participating in it. I got jealous and said to my self "why can't I give it a shot?" I recently took a great interest in computers and this was an opportunity to play with my computer all summer long for a prize. I still didn't know squat about the Internet but everything I was hearing about it seemed interesting. As soon as I was sure I had a group and topic I went out the book store and picked me up a big fat book on HTML. I read the manual cover to cover enjoyed every minute of it. I was really starting to get a handle on this HTML thing. By this time the contest had already started. In about June of 96 I had reached the CGI section of the HTML book. I liked what the HTML book had to say enough to go out and buy several more books on CGI and Perl. Well Come the end of July you can imagine what my bank account looked like if you are familiar with the costs of books especially BIG ones. To make a long story short I learned allot as a result of this contest. It is now August. You remember that friend I was jealous of, well he and I have decided continue web site building as money making hobby to keep us busy through our senior year.
