There are several professional sports teams. You can visit many of the national leagues Internet pages. Check these links out on the interview page. Professional athletics require people who are highly talented and determined. This is an adventurous career and should be sought out by only the very ambitious.
Earnings
If you are good, you can make a ton of money. This money will come not only from the
team that you play for but also from endorsements. The national annual average is
$10,000 to $100,000. Talent, skill, and type of sport determines the starting salaries.
Working Conditions
Working conditions vary according to what sport you play. There are several
professional teams as well as self-employed professional athletics. The professional sports include baseball, hockey, soccer, basketball, tennis, golfing, boxers, skaters, bowlers and track athlethes. Whichever sport you decide to pursue, hard work, dedication and travel is required in order to compete.
Hours
The hours are very long and include Saturdays, Sundays, and some holidays. Again,
depending on what sport you play, the hours vary. Most teams travel and train many hours of the day.
Education and Training Needed
Most of the training begins at a very early age. You don't decide that you want to be a
professional athlete all of a sudden. Skill is achieved through little leagues, high school
teams, and in the back yard. If you are serious about becoming a professional athlete,
you should also play at the college level. The most important training is a self willed attitude. No one is going to push you to lift the weight and shoot the baskets or throw the ball everyday.

Advantages
If you are good, fame and money are waiting for you. You are the center of
attention and if not for you there would be many jobs lost. Because of professional
athletes, there are ticket booth employees, coaches, and numerous other jobs. You are always changing scenes, at a different gym, field, or court all the time.
The most obvious disadvantage is the fame. Fame can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on how you view it or how famous you are. You are always a role model and one wrong move and the whole world knows it. There is a lot of pressure working long, tough hours. You also have to work on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays since many games are played on those days. Being a professional athlete is not always fame and glory and has disappointments. Unlike many other careers, you not only disappoint yourself, but all the fans as well.
