Our interview with K Callan, an actor who plays Superman's mom on the hit TV series "Lois and Clark."

Q. Do you consider your career to be adventurous? If so what aspects make your job adventurous?

A. Yes, I consider acting to be a great adventure. First of all , the most adventurous part, will you be able to pay your bills and next and the best part is that it is so varied, even if you have the stomach for it, it is fun always wondering who I will work with this time, where, and what will the character be like.

Q. Does it take you a while to memorize lines for a show or part?

A. Well, it is always about investing time. I make pretty quick study and it depends on the lines. Some lines just come easy or the scene just flows, while other, more technical stuff, requires more work. The better you know your materials, the better of a job you will do. Thinking about memorizing lines just takes time off of your emotional life.

Q. What do you think is the most rewarding part of your career?

A. Well, I think that I have already said but committing a life to show business is very adventurous and all the different people you get to meet. Because the time span of a normal job is short, not like a series which can go on for years, you usually skip the beginning part of a relationship and go straight to the middle because you are so dependent on each other. When people stay in my life after a job we usually have to go back to the beginning part because as you know everything has to have a beginning, a middle, and an end.

Q. How did you become an actor for such a popular TV series?

A. Well, it's all about getting a job, you never know if it will be a popular show or not. I've read zillions of scripts, and have been on zillions of auditions I have read things that I thought were wonderful that died in 15 minutes. You never Know. I did think thatLois and Clark was a swell pilot when I first read it and we have been lucky and have had such terrific writers and actors.

Q. Did you ever think that you would make it this far in your career.

A. Well, to tell the truth I always planned on this and more.

Q. What do you do on daily basis?

A. It depends, sometimes I'm doing normal everyday things, running errands, but mostly I am at my desk working on a book or if I have an audition, working on material and getting ready to go in. If I am working on Lois and Clark that week I will be preparing for that. The great part is that I will never know. I may be grocery shopping that morning and get a call from my agent saying that he has a script for me to get or he will fax sides (which are pages you will need for a particular scene) and then I will be at Paramount at 5. Sometimes it can be a little harry for it all happens at once.

Q. How do you handle stress?

A. For stress I walk, swim, and work out. I also try to do some form of meditation. Last weekend I participated in "Reiki" which is an ancient Japanese healing. It was to learn "a laying on of hands" It did more for my stress that anything ever has. I know it sounds weird, "healing", but it really has worked and now I have the ability to do that too.

Q. Have you ever written a script or a play that has been produced into a movie or a play?

A. No I haven't. Well, not since I have lived in Texas long ago but it was all very local. I have been planning to pitch a Lois and Clark script but have been too busy and I guess I didn't feel strong enough to come up with an idea, although I do have one. But I have to think it out and ask them about it.

Q. What advice would you give to a starting actor?

A. My advice is all in "How To Sell Yourself As An Actor" which you can order on AOL on the Lois and Clark homepage from Sweden Press.

Q. Have you ever been asked to do something on stage that you didn't want to do?

A. I have never been asked to do something that I didn't want to do.

Q. What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done on camera?

A. The most adventurous thing I have done was stabbing Clark in the final episode because I was possessed by Tez and I wanted to try to be like him. I don't think that I pulled it off at all but it was still an adventure and lots of fun.

Q. What was your favorite Lois and Clark episode?

A. The pilot, where I made the outfit.

Q. What has been your favorite acting job?

A. Hard to choose...my first film: Joe...another:A Touch of Class...the M'Lynn role in Steel Magnolias...a play I did at Alaska Rep.

Q. What movies have you been in?

A. The above plus Frankie and Johnnie, Fast Break, The Onion Field and others.

Q. Are most of your really good friends (true friends) famous people or not?

A. Many of my friends are not in the business. My best friends are not actors.
