OBJECTIVE: To be able to find the average depth of a river
MATERIALS: yardstick, paper, and pencil
LEVEL: Upper
SETTING: River
TIME ALLOTMENT: 1 hour
PRE-ACTIVITIES: Plan to get wet from wading in the river, or you may use
a rowboat. Use caution when wading and make sure the river you pick isn't
too swift..
Activity:
To find the average depth of a river, measure its depth in three places
and divide the total by three.
