Chaos History & Mathematics

When was chaos first discovered? It was Edward Lorenz, a meteorologist who first discovered evidence supporting chaos theory in 1960.

THE LORENZ ATTRACTOR -- Edward Lorenz's work cultimated with the publishing of the now-famous image, the Lorenz Attractor.

THE MATHEMATICS OF CHAOS -- Math, Science, and Computers- Chaos links them all together.

FRACTALS -- One of the most intriguing elements of Chaos Theory are the beautiful, complex pictures known as FRACTALS.

MANDELBROT -- Benoit Mandelbrot was largely responsible for the recent interest in Fractal Geometry. He showed how Fractals can occur in many different places in both mathematics and elsewhere in nature.

THE JULIA SET -- Gaston Julia was one of the forefathers of modern dynamical systems theory and is best remembered for what is now called the Julia set.
