John Lennon

by Bryan Newman

"they say that I'm a dreamer
but I'm not the only one
I hope someday you will join us
and the world will be as one"

John Lennon didn't always have this message of peace to spread but after his troubled childhood and rough teenage years he became a widespread speaker for peace. His largest public artistic outlet was through his music with the Beatles. Some of the lyrics that he and Paul McCartney wrote over the years are not only inspirational but changed the lives of people all over the world. Lennon, McCartney and all of the Beatles were extremely active members of the peace movement of the 60's and some would say that a lot of the major peace demonstrations were direct results of Beatles' music. "All we are saying, is give peace a chance." (Lennon: Give Peace a Chance) That message still rings on with the youth of today and every once in a while you'll hear somebody humming it or hear it playing on the radio.
