What is knowledge?

Epistemology is the study of the nature, origin, scope, and limits of human knowledge. This branch of philosophy is known as that which concerns the theory of knowledge. How does the mind work? How can we learn?

Epistemology tries to explain the ways that illusions and sensory perception affect our ways of thinking. It tries to discover how society conditions the minds if people.

The line between instinct and knowledge is shadowy at best. Are humans born with certain instinctive thoughts passed down genetically(a sort of racial memory)? Or do we start life with a blank slate (theory of tabula rasa)?
