ArtJourney puts the fun and power of art on
the
World Wide Web into your hands. Here, you can express yourself for the
entire world. Learn how you can do art, and then exhibit it in
ArtJourney's own Public Gallery!
The ArtJourney begins with a roller coaster tour of the history
of art. When you begin an ArtJourney, you have access to thirty of
history's most innovative and captivating artists. You can talk to each
one, and learn what they think art is all about. Are you curious as
to why Leonardo da Vinci finished so few paintings? Or, what were the
first human artists ever like?
Well, in ArtJourney all you have to do is ask. Remember, each artist
may try to sway you towards their style of work, but in the end you can
show your true expressiveness by publishing your own artwork in
the ArtJourney Public Gallery.
In the future, artists will not have to struggle to make their
work known. The World Wide Web allows every artist to put
their work on exhibit instantaneously. Artists will then be judged for
their talent, rather than the talent of their marketing. ArtJourney
lets and encourages you become part of the Web publishing world.

To begin the ArtJourney, return to the main ArtJourney page.
Click on "Begin a Journey." ArtJourney will now ask you to enter your
name and a password of your own. This feature ensures that if you have
to leave your journey,
and return later, you can go immediately back to where you left
off. Finally, pick a character for yourself, and click on "Continue."
The program will welcome you, and you can confirm that your user
information is correct. Clicking on "Begin!" will send you to the mission
screen. Here, a modern artist will help you understand the best way to
dive into the world of art.
All of the artists' pages look like the mission page.
On the left, you see the words, "Navigation Tools." Clicking this takes
you to the bottom of the page where five icons appear:

"ArtJourney Main Page" brings you to the very first page. "Public
Gallery" takes you to the area where you can post your art and get the
tools to create it. "Mail Us!" gives you the option of sending comments
to the creators of ArtJourney. To get to the page you are now reading,
click on
"About ArtJourney". Finally, "Back to the Artist" sends you to the top of
the page again.
Underneath the "Navigation Tools" link appear the names of the
ArtJourney Artists. They are ordered chronologically from past to
present. Clicking on any of their names will bring the artist to you.
Each artist appears to the right of the list of artists. After the artist
introduces himself, you can ask him or her any of the questions that
appear underneath the picture. Simply click on the question you want to ask.
When you have finished talking to all the artists you want to,
you can post some of you own work in the ArtJourney Public Gallery. To do
this, return to the main ArtJourney page and click on "AJ Public
Gallery." Here you can browse through the work of the artists who came
before you. You can even search the Gallery by title and author. To
receive instructions on how to post your own work, click on "Help on
Uploading." We have found the best tools for creating your art on your
computer, and you can download
these programs by clicking on "Painting
Tools." All of the software you can download is free or shareware. Or, of course,
you can use your own paint and draw programs.
