Christian Reed
Welcome to my own private page on the Runner's Oasis Web Site! This page will never compete
with Christine's, but I'll try my best! =) I run cross country and track for Essex High School in
Essex Junction, Vermont. I'll be a Junior this fall, as our team prepares to compete for its fourth
consecutive state title. We are looking forward to running New England's this fall on our home turf
(Thetford, Vermont). Thetford is actually at the opposite end of the state from us, but Vermont is
small enough to consider it close to home. I started running in seventh grade, and haven't stopped
since (this may explain some of my over-training problems, but I've spent enough time on my butt this
summer to reset myself). My best sport is probably track, where I took sixth in Vermont Division 1
this past spring running the 800m. I also rock climb, Nordic ski, water ski, sail, bike, play
basketball and do triathlons. I am a member of my school's Writer's Forum, Student Council, Climbing
Club, and the ever-cool math league team. I am a math and science oriented student, and I just
started to learn computer programming this past school year. Last summer I spent most of my time
running, and this led to over-training and a sub-par cross country season, so I solved that problem
this year by getting a summer job. I work as a counselor at a day camp, I've decided that it counts
as cross training (my excuse for not putting in the miles), but at least my body gets a chance to
reset. I like to listen to many kinds of music, my favorite bands include Jethro Tull, Led Zeplin,
CCR, Phish,
Dave Mathews, etc. My favorite movies include Pulp Fiction, The Graduate, and The Blues Brothers,
"We're on a mission from God." So hopefully I'll see some of you this fall, we run at the Essex
Invite, The Manchester Invitational, The Thetford Invitational, and maybe the Manhattan Invitational
(depending on if we go to Easterns), and of course the Vermont State Meet, and New Englands. You
can EMail me with any input, motivational stuff, Blues
Brother's Quotes, etc. And remember, "Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is
serious"-Anonymous.
