Real World Applications
Since it's relatively young, new applications for fuzzy logic are constantly
popping up. Artificial intelligence in games has begun using fuzzy logic to
generate a more "human" opponent. Before, opponents in games would generally
either do one thing or do another. However, by "fuzzyfying" inputs to an
opponent, it can make smooth, intelligent transitions to different strategies.
Galactic Mirage, a computer space strategy game in development by Virgin,
promises to have challenging foes by incorporating fuzzy logic. Also,
the Sony PalmTop uses a fuzzy logic decision tree algorithm to perform
handwritten Kanjii character recognition.
