Species

To make the simulation more interesting, 2 different species of birds, red and blue, have been placed into the world. Each bird will attempt to flock with birds of the same color, but will avoid birds that are not the same color. Often a single stray bird will be able to dissolve an entire flock.

After letting the simulation run for a while, distinct flocks of birds can be noted, travelling around in the virtual world. Although the motion of an entire flock looks chaotic occasionally, the birds are still just following simple, ordered rules.

You can adjust the number of blue and red birds by clicking on the little adjustment arrows. Do not drag the sliders.
