Ozeki Dejima came into Sumo in
a untraditional way. He entered as a Makushita Tsukedashi, which
is a person who excelled at Sumo at a college who is allowed to
jump into Sumo at the bottom of the 3rd ranking division, Makushita.
It only took him 3 basho (tournaments) to make it into Juryo. With
one of the strongest initial charges in Sumo today, Dejima is expected
to go far in Sumo. Dejima, along with other young rikishi are considered
to be the next generation of Sumo.
