Right Whale

Speed:

  • Very slow moving: 2-3 knots
  • Easily harpooned

    Color:

  • Usually black
  • May show irregular white patches on the underside

    Length:

  • 45-60 feet

    Weight:

  • Up to 45 tons

    Surfacing:

  • Every 4-7 minutes
  • Can hold its breath for 10-30 minutes

    Blow:

  • 2 blow holes
  • The spout is V-shape

    Eating Habits:

  • Krill

    Interesting Features:

  • Called the "Right" whale because it was the right whale to harpoon
  • Does not sink when killed
  • Longest baleen of any whale
