Leonard Euler.
(1707 - 1783)
Leonard Euler, the greatest mathematician of the XVIII century was born in 1707 in Switzerland, Basel.
In 1720, at the age of 14, he joined the University of Basel and began the intensive studing of mathematics.
In 1727 Euler invented by the Peterburg Academy of Sciences, moved to Russia. There he found himself in a circle of famose scientists - mathematicians, physicists, astronoms and got wide possibilities for publishing of his articles. Appeared his first works, which attracted all the scientists of the Europe and soon he became the first mathematician of the world.
Euler was uncommonly many-sided scientists and learned all the questions of mathematics of his time.
The Number Theory, the theory of Moon's motion, optical instruments - all this and many other problems interested him.
The mankind is obliged to Euler for many valuable invetions, enhansments and technical theories. But in spite of this, elaborating of mathematical problems was the main thing in tis life.
Euler strikes by his exceptional productivity. The articles of this genius where published during 80 years posthumously.
Hard work made him blind 17 years before his death in 1783.
