Around this time, Sado (the way of tea), Sarugaku (an art of mimicry), and Renga (linked poems) become popular.1576 Oda Nobunaga clears away enemies one after another and moves his residence to Azuchi-jo Palace. (Momoyama culture) 1582 An incident at Honnoh-ji occurs. Oda Nobunaga is attacked by his follower,
Akechi Mitsuhide and commits suicide.
His other follower Hashiba Hideyoshi subjugates Akechi Mitsuhide in order to avenge on his master.1583 Osaka-jo Palace is completed. 1586 Hashiba Hideyoshi becomes a Premier (Dajo minister) and names himself Toyotomi Hideyoshi. 1590 Hideyoshi continues to succeed Nobunaga's will, and unifies the nation. 1591 Sen no Rikyu commits suicide. 1598 Toyotomi Hideyoshi dies. 1600 The Sekigahara battle occurs. East India Company; Great Britain 1603 Tokugawa Ieyasu becomes a Seii Taishogun.
Nijo-jo Palace is built by the Tokugawa Shogunate.1612 The Tokugawa Shogunate prohibits Christianity. 1635 Tokugawa Shogunate closes the country from the world except for some areas.
