Thinking and the Brain

Our brain is the control center for everything we do. It controls our breathing, our heartbeat, our emotions, whether we feel heat or cold and everything else our body does. Thinking takes place in the brain just like everything else. Scientists are only just beginning to understand how the brain works. Right now, we only have a small idea about where thinking takes place in the brain.

Thinking is usually called cognitive processing by scientists. The scientists that study brain functions that include thinking are called neuroscientists. They believe, through research, that most of our thinking takes place in the parietal cortex. It will take a lot more research before we can really understand where and how thinking takes place in the brain.
