The Chemistry Tutor was created by high school students from Prairie High School in 1996 as a Think Quest project. The students have long since graduated and moved on to greener pastures leaving the upkeep of the site to their chemistry teacher. In the beginning this site gave online homework help. This has fallen by the wayside since the students have graduated and their chemistry teacher does not have time to work homework problems for high school students across the country. The site is now updated by Mr. Lemberg at Prairie High School and a few of his students. We no longer will answer any e-mail involving homework questions.

Regarding homework: We have found as we have maintained this site over the years that some high school and college chemistry students blame their understanding (or rather misunderstanding) of chemistry on their instructor. We believe that most of the responsibility must be laid back on the student. The student is the one who needs to spend extra time on chemistry if they are to master the subject (yes this means to study even when there are no problems due). We also believe that the best place to find help is with your instructor or tutoring program that you may have at your institution. We provide this site as a reference tool when help is not close at hand. This site is not all encompassing or exhaustive, rather it's a starting point for most high school students.
