AGES OF MAN MYTHS

Ages of man parallels are found in the following myths:

·   Indian: the Four Ages of Man
·   Greek: the Five Ages of Man

Common threads found between these myths:

- In both beliefs, there is a golden age to start off the ages of men: it is a race of "perfect" happy beings who have life easy and need not work for a living.

- Also, in both beliefs, the ages become increasingly worse as each one is destroyed and a new one takes its place. The final age is always the most unhappy one, in which misery reigns and people must work hard for their food and daily upkeep. It is said that this is the age in which we now live.
