Christianity

The Christian view of creation is similar to that of Islam and Judaism, with a few crucial differences. Christians believe that God created the world in six "days"; one of the places that God created was a garden called Eden. The Garden was a paradise designed especially with humanity in mind. When God created Adam and Eve, the first people, he placed them in the garden and walked with them every day. Adam and Eve were allowed to eat the all of the fruit in the garden, with the exception of one tree: the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. One day, when Eve was walking in the garden, she met a serpent (Christians believe that it was probably Satan in disguise) who told her that if she and Adam ate from the forbidden tree, they would become like God.

Eve followed the serpent's instructions and ate the tree's fruit, then brought some back for Adam. As soon as Adam and Eve ate the fruit, they became aware of their own nakedness and wove garments of fig leaves to hide their shame. When God came to the garden to talk to Adam and Eve, they hid from him because of their shame. God discovered that Adam and Eve had eaten from the forbidden tree, he punished them and banished them from the Garden forever. Christians believe that Adam and Eve's transgression against God -- original sin -- is what changed human nature from good to sinful, and what caused the death and disease found in our world today.

Judaism

In Judaism the creation story goes as follows:

In the beginning there was chaos. On the first day the lord said, "Let there be light." And there was light. God then separated the light from the darkness and called the light day and the darkness night. On the second day, God separated the heaven from the waters of the earth. On the third day, God put all the water in one area and called it the seas and the dry land earth. Then he created all the different vegetation on the earth. On the fourth day god created bodies of light. He used the greater of the two lights and placed it during the day and then the lesser of the two bodies he placed in the night. He then also created stars and placed them in the night. On the fifth day, he created all the birds of the sky and all the fish of the sea. On the sixth day, the lord created all the beasts of the earth. He then said, "Let us make man in our image after our likeness."* The lord then created man. The lord said to them "be fruitful and multiply"**

*Two interpretations: 1. The "our" was in the image of god and the animals

    1. The "our" was in the image of god and the angels

**This is the first commandment given in the Hebrew Bible

Islam

Your Guardian-Lord is Allah. Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days, then He established Himself on the Throne (of authoritiy): He draweth the night as a veil o'er the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession: He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (All) governed by laws under His command. Is it not His to create and to

govern? Blessed be Allah, the Cherisher, and sustainer of the Worlds!"

(Quran 7:54)

The universe(s) is one of the things that were created before man. Angels are creatures that were created before Adam; they do nothing but worship God and obey His order. Jinn are actually creatures like man, and also have a certain amount of free will. Don't confuse with the Genie of the lamp; that's folktale added to their identity; they're just

creatures.

Man is different than God's other creatures. When he was created, the angels asked God why He would create a being that would do nothing but spread mischief in the earth. God told them that He knows more than they do, then showed them how man could learn, and how he could choose. Satan was jealous of man, and when he refused to bow down before Adam as God commanded him, he was banished and is promised hell when our time comes to be repaid for our deeds. Satan vowed to misguide people, and he

misguided Adam and Eve. They were sent down here to earth after approaching the tree they were forbiden to. Adam and Eve asked forgiveness though, and God forgave them for their sin after they repented. God told Adam that He would send guidance for the rest of humanity, and according to how they live their lives on earth, they will get their reward. Our life here is our chance. We could work righteousness, ask God forgiveness when we sin, or deny Him, but everyone will get his reward according to his deeds.
