Preparation for life after school

A good education can dramatically increase chances and choices in later live It is important that we prepare well the time after school.
We have to learn to listen to our inner voice, because we alone can decide what we prefer to do as work later. A succeeded choice of the future profession is important, because our aim is to enjoy our future occupation, our future daily work. That's why this has become a very important topic in our school program and every student really should think seriously about this matter.

Career's education is included as a part of the Personal and Social Education Program for students in years 7, 8 and 9. Everybody has a job diary. It helps you to get to know yourself specially in the domain of:

  • what do we like to do and why do we like it
  • what are our interests and what are the reasons for

Here you can see a special page about our way to find a job.

Job - Informationcenter

We have a Job-Informationcenter with a job library. There are a lot of books and documentations with information about almost all jobs.

Careers advisers/ local careers service.

We go for career's guidance when we don't exactly know what we would like to do later on. Actually almost all students go there for 2-3 times in year 8.  The Staff are able to provide access to a wide range of up to date information on jobs. We get to know more about the different jobs and a lot of information. We will talk about personal things such as our favourite hobbies or about education in general. They explain the possible schools or formation centers, we discuss about our personal progress at school etc. Quite a few of us make special tests, to find out what jobs suite us best and what is our strength or weakness. All this helps us to make our choice. In these tests there are questions such as.

What would you prefer to do now ?
A: Sketch a box?
B: Observe playing kids?

The career`s advisers mark the test and explain it later on.

We are given close support and encouragement as we go through the application process. by our class teacher.

Job practice / probation

Do know a maximum of jobs most of the students make several "job practice weeks" (probations). There students can try a profession for one, two days ... even a week, to learn about the realities in the daily work of these jobs. All students have the opportunity to go on one week work experience in Year 8 or 9 (sometimes it is only for a couple of days).

Jobs, places

Depending on your school level, your marks it may be quite difficult to get a job in the profession you would like best. So many students go to school for another year or do a language exchange year (in France or England, America or Italy).
