Here in Spreitenbach there are more flats than detached houses, which most people only rent. Many people - mainly foreigners - live in high-rise buildings. The old town of Spreitenbach has been mentioned for the first time in 1124 -
so this year (1999) we celebrate our 875 year anniversary.

Switzerland is a country of tenants: Only 33% own their own home, because it`s rather expensive to buy a house. The land is very expensive and the constructions too. You`ve got to pay between 300 000 and 600 000 Swiss francs for a reasonable flat or house (about 200'000-400'000 $), which is quite a lot.

Of course you can raise. A however buyer should have at least 20 % of privately owned capital. As the prices are high, Switzerland has very low mortgage rates of 3 - 5 % per year.
