A child was born
....
In 1997 there were 80'500 babies born
- 11,7 of the population lived this happy
event.
Foreign families have more children
than Swiss people.

Age
The life expectancy
in Switzerland is 75,3 years for men and 81,7 years for
women. So women live longer than men.
|
|

|
|
Life expectancy has risen more among
women than among men who tend to die earlier (before the age
of 70), mainly due to accidents and violence, lung cancer
and alcohol-related cirrhosis of the liver. Life expectancy
has shot up during this century, largely as a result of
falling infant and child mortality.
As the forecast of the Swiss Federal
Statistical Office shows, the part of the population that is
older than 65 years (that is actually the age of retire ) is
growing. There may result a serious problem for our
society.

Weddings &
divorces
|
|
|
Last year there were almost 40'000
weddings - 5 of the population.. As the graphic shows
- the number of married people is growing. even if there
were 17'000 divorces in the same period ( about 40 % of the
weddings ; 2,2 of the population)

Religions
In Switzerland we have two base
religions. They are catholic and protestant. There are no
religious problems, except maybe some female-students from
Islamic cultures who have problems with our culture (mixed
schools, clothing).
