Rorschach Relativity Experiment
To demonstrate the basic concepts of relativity using Rorschach inkblot tests.
* If none are available to you, you can make your own with white 12x18 inch paper and black ink or acrylic paints. To do this, fold each sheet of paper one the 18 inch side. Carefully pour some ink or paint on one side of the fold only, then fold the paper over to produce a symmetrical print. Allow them to dry flat before using.
Procedure:
The procedure of this experiment is really up to you. What you need to do is have the volunteers observe each of the inkblots in many different ways- slowly, a quick flash, close up, from a distance, at odd angles, and any other way you can think of. (Don't tell them which one you are using.) Record their observations-what they think the inkblot looks like.
Why?
Compare the observations that the different people have, and that the same people have for the same inkblots. Compare how they vary when viewed differently.
This experiment shows that basic principle of relativity- that tings appear different to different people when viewed from different points and at different speeds.
