Biography of Alphonse Capone

Al Capone became one of the richest, famous, and most powerful gangsters’ leader in Chicago from 1925. He was the fourth of nine children. Al Capone joined the James Street Gang, ran by Johnny Torrio. After Al Capone got expelled in the sixth grade, this guy, Johnny Torrio brought him up to the world of criminals. Al Capone got a nickname “Scarface” since his left cheek got slashed.

In 1919 Al Capone was in trouble with the law in New York and so he moved to Chicago to help Johnny Torrio who was working the brothels in Windy City. They got along and soon they were the leaders of almost every gang in Chicago. The gangs who didn’t want to join them ended up fighting. In the fight, Torrio got badly hurt and he went to the hospital in 1925. After he got out he decided to retire and went back to his homeland with 30million dollars.

Al Capone sold tons of illegal liquor (bootlegs) which was imported from Canada. Al got away from those who wanted to capture him, he did a lot for charities, so no one really cared that he was a bad guy because he gave them what they wanted and Al Capone was too powerful and too dangerous to stop. The police didn’t want to get involved in his business, or Al shot them down.

Finally Al Capone did get into trial, he didn’t pay tax and he had to be into jail for a decade and a year. Al Capone was released in 1939 because of his sickness, syphilis, which spread to his brain and eventually paralyzed. He spent the last moment of his life in his Florida mansion until he died, January 25th 1947.
