Species As you can see, there are numerous species of plants and I cannot possibly mention each and every kind to you. So the following are some well-known and special plants... We group desert plants in two categories: 1. Ones which persist only as seeds, ready to spring up when it rains and flower quickly and produce another crop of seeds and die again. 2. Drought resisters which have developed various ways to store water: eg. finding underground water, or reducing their loss of water such as sedding their leaves. Therefore they can live from one rainy season to another, growing bigger and bigger. They store water either in their leaves, stem or underground. A very good example is the succulents. And under this category the most famous type is the cacti.
