Desert Monitor

The desert monitor may sound strange, but it is actually the biggest reptile of the desert. When I say the biggest, it means that it is ENORMOUS and HUMUNGOUS!!!! An adult can be as long as 5 feet! This giant lizard can be found in the Sahara, Arabian, Indian and Central Asian deserts. Desert monitors can run up to 6mph, which is quite fast considering its size. They have a daily routine to follow each day. Every morning it will go out and hunt for small mammals, birds and lizards. They go on the same route every day. How boring! They can walk up to 3 miles to look for food. The desert monitor is very fierce. If its prey is hiding underground, it may just dig out the animal! If the prey escapes, the desert monitor will go after it.
