Lions

Unlike most big cats of the world, the lions live together in groups. Like pumas, lions get enough moisture from their prey's blood and do not need to drink. Male lions have a beautiful sandy-coloured mane while females have nothing on their heads except short fur. There are not many lions in the deserts of the world today. Long ago there were more of them, and even the Sahara had lions. Now, sadly, there are no more lions in the Sahara, but there are still some in southern Africa. The lions disappeared from the Sahara mainly because of people coming to hunt them. The desert was also getting drier and drier. The last lion of the Sahara died in 1932.
