in AUSTRALIA~ the Australian Desert Area: 1,550,000 sq km (600,000 sq miles) The second largest desert in the world, is the arid centre of Australia--the Australian desert. There is just one word to describe its landscape, it is simply--flat. It is almost impossible to find any hills here. The colours here are very beautiful, as you look over the surface of the land from a really high location, you will see the changes of the colours which are in fact reflecting the nature of the land. There is also an interesting place, like the Lake Eyre. For much of the time, it is just a piece of sandy crust of salt lying beneath sea level. But it is lush with vegetation for it is fertilized by the water there, and when irregular rains come, they bring in many kinds of animals and urge the plants to grow, adding a riot of colour to the desert. |
