Cats Bobcats
[ Bobcats can stand firmly on prickly thorns of the cacti while the ordinary cats can't ]
The bobcats, also called the red lynx or the desert wildcat, lives in the semideserts of Mexico, North America and Eastern US. They have a 15-cm long bobbed tail and are about two feet tall. The bobcat's sand-colored coat provides camouflage from predators. Unlike some other desert animals, the bobcat cannot go without water for a long time, so it must live near waterholes. Bobcats live alone and have their own territories. They hunt for small rodents, rabbits, birds, young bighorn sheep or small deer in their territory. This night runner loves also to pounce on animals in the dark night. Living among the trees and ledges of the canyons, the bobcat is active also in the day. When the sun is still up in the sky, the wild cat goes up the saguaros, searching for woodpecker eggs or just to rest up there, viewing around. [ A bobcat catching its prey---a bird probably]
