STATUS: Endangered without critical habitat.
DESCRIPTION: Small (4mm body length), blind animal resembling a tailless scorpion.
HABITAT: This pseudoscorpion inhabits "Karst" formations. "Karst is a terrain characterized by landforms and subsurface features, such as sinkholes and caves, that are produced by solution of bedrock" (Veni, 1992). Drainage in these areas is mostly into the subsurface, with little runoff. Requires damp, but not flooded environment.
DISTRIBUTION:
Present: Jollyville Plateau in Travis County, Texas.
Historic: Same as above.
THREATS AND/OR REASONS FOR DECLINE: Habitat loss due to development, limited distribution, alteration of groundwater flow patterns, human disturbance pesticides, and fire ants.
OTHER INFORMATION: This species is mostly a predator of insects and small invertebrates..
