The steps necessary to change the color depth and resolution in any version of Windows is simple. The provided images are from Windows98 and may differ from your own screen (for faster loading, the images are in black and white). However, the basics should be the same. In Windows 3.x, skip the steps and instead go to System->Control Panel. From there Find Display, double-click on it, and change the settings as needed.
Click on the Start menu, select settings, and select Control Panel.
Double-click on Display
Click on the Settings tab
Click on the arrow in the Colors section and change the setting to anything over 8 bit.
Change the screen area by dragging the slider to the right or left. Then click OK and when Windows asks you if you wish to restart your computer, say yes.
