This picture of Sangay was taken in the summer of 1990. Jamies Burton,the
photographer, was studying archaeological sites in the vicinity where the
people used ash from Sangay to temper their clay pots. The photo shows
an ash cloud coming from the summit of Sangay as viewed from the village
of Macas in the Morona-Santiago Province of Ecuador
