Photosynthesis - Structure of a Chloroplast

Structure of a Chloroplast

Chloroplasts are double membrane bound organelles crucial in photosynthesis. The area between the outer membrane and the inner membrane (thylakoid) is called the stroma. Stacks of thylakoids are called granum. Both the light and light-independent (dark) reactions of photosynthesis occur here.
