Nondisjunction

Nondisjunction occurs when homologous chromosome pairs do no separate in meiosis. This results in one gamete receiving an extra chromosome. Examples of nondisjunction include Down syndrome (extra twenty-first chromosome) and Turner syndrome (females missing one X chromosome).
