Heredity - X-Inactivation

X-Inactivation

In x-inactivation one X chromosome does not uncoil into a chromatin. This chromosome is referred to as a Barr body. Because it does not uncoil, none of the genes on the Barr body are active. Thus the female only has one set of working alleles.
