Voices' interactive site contains poems read in several mother tongues.Voices web site allows students to hear poems and to add poems' readings of their own country. Users can also submit poems written and read by themselves. Voices is organized by literary genres from II M B.C. to XX century, from Europe and USA to many other countries in the world, with the contribute of all who will like to give their partecipation to Voices' web site.
Voices' Web site's primary focus will be on the poems read in mother tongue; its aim is to join people who read and are fond of poetry, to exchange readings and to spread poetry's knowledge around the world.
Voices Literary genres in Poetries index page presents a frame of different themes, like: love poems, religious poetry, folk songs, epic poems etc.
By clicking on one of these entries the user will find the index of poetries inserted, whith the link to the respective page.
Here each poem will be written and read in its mother tongue, translated in english, and can be provided with music and images (pictures, photos). Linked to a number of the poems will be notices on the poets' biography, works, poetic, on literary genres and currents.
You can hear the poetry read by various readers of mother tongue and, in same case, by author himself
For the moment Voices is organized by literary genres. As known, such classification has an organizing value until the first half of XIX century, with the end of traditional literary academy begun whit Baudelaire and the other "maduits", and completed with the so called historical vanguards.
The relativity of such classification is evident if related to the countries of all the world, which poetical production, with no limitation, wants to be included (we strongly encourage it) in Voices pages.
As the site grows up, crossing indexing by country and timeline will be provided.
Voices uses the Thinkquest server that supports the Real Audio standard audio files. To listen to the recorded audio files of the relative poetries, click on the icons with speakers as in the examples shown (red for slow machines or modem, or else software player; and green if your local configuration is performing better).
You also need a player for Real Audio files: this is usually included as plug-in in most popular browsers; if you have not you can downolad by clicking on the icon as one below:
Note that the new media player of Windows should also work.
As above said, Voices intends to collect and compare different ways of poetic expression all over the world whith no limitation of "rank" or context. It's possible only with the contribute of people who likes poetry.
So go to the Contribute! page for explaination about the way to e-mail your poetry. In Forum page you can discuss and support whith references, translations, reading in mother tongue the poetries pages.
