Capricornus is one of the earliest constellations to be put on the zodiac. It is said that when Typhon attacked Olympus, Pan the goat god tried to escape by means of water and the parts of his body that touched water turned into that of a fish. The upper portion is that of a goat and the lower is that of a fish.
