· Philippines Military Academy
The country's leading military instruction sprawls in the forested heights eight kilometers from Baguio City. The local counterpart of West Point, the Philippine Military Academy or PMA is the training ground for future regular officers of the Cadet Corps. A unique spectacle every Saturday morning is the parade-in-review of the uniformed cadets.
Named after Col. Lyman W. Kennon who was the final builder of the famous Benguet road, with the help of the industrious Cordillerans and foreign workers. Kennon Rd. is the shortest and the most scenic highway linking Baguio and the lowlands. The Lion's head can be found along the way. Final construction of this road was finished in 1903 Col. L. Kennon ascended in Baguio In 1905.
One of the most familiar Landmarks in Baguio. The structure with twin spires and one hundred steps sits on top of a hill in the heart of the city, offering characters and visitors a chance to get a bird's eye view of the entire commercial hub. It was opened to the public last November 25, 1990 during the Christ the King celebration.
This is a religious shrine housing the image of the Lady of Lourdes. After ascending 252 steps leading into the Grotto, one is rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of the city. The Grotto of the Our Lady of Lourdes is also a favorite pilgrimage site every Holy Week.
Off Gibraltar Road and downhill from Mine's View Park is the Good Shepherd Convent, a sisterhood which provides a home for unwed mothers and adoption services for many their babies. To support these charitable endeavors, the convent produces and sells what many locals believe to be the best strawberry and ube (a violet-colored variation of the local yam) jams, coco jam, cashew and peanut brittle.
A garden filled with excitement and adventure. Appreciate the beauty of nature as you see different kinds of trees and wild plants. It also features native nippa huts typical of Cordilleran architecture.
Ornate iron gates and a rectangular reflecting pool along a tree-lined walkway mark the entrance to Mansion House, the summer residence of Philippine Presidents. Its lovely interiors are a museum housing memorabilia and works of art collected over its years of occupancy by the heads of state. On Sunny days, equestrian riders - not content with the pine-shaped track of nearby Wright Park Circle Lead their rented horses up to the gates of Mansion House.
Toss a coin and make a wish upon the old mines. At the entrance to the park is a flea market selling Baguio's goodies: jams and preservatives, peanut brittle, baskets, handwoven blankets, carved idols and other handicrafts.
It is a structure exudes an ethnic flavor. It is considered the most modern and most spacious convention center north of Manila, which initially gained international prominence when it became the venue of the 1978 World Chess Championship between Anatoly Kasparov & Korchnovi. It was inaugurated by the former President of the Philippines in July 17, 1978.
Centered around a man-made lagoon, this park which was named after the city's planner. Daniel Burnham, is synonymous to Baguio City. A favorite gateway of local residents, the park is the green expanse of quiet in the heart of the city. The late is made for boating, the grounds perfect for picnics and outdoor concerts, and the flower-punctuated walks are well-suited for strolling, biking, and skating. There also tennis and basketball courts, football field and orchidarium.
