The Qing Dynasty (1616 AD ~ 1911 AD)

The Great Wall was then a barrier to stop the invading Mongolians from attacking and to prevent the Han Nationality of the Chinese to enter the Northeast parts of the country. The rulers of the Qing Dynasty was the Man Nationality. They started from the Northeast parts of the country and so as not allowing others to disturb the area, they prevented the others from entering. They guarded the Shanhai Fortress to avoid the Han Nationality of going out, and they further built the Great Wall named, Liutiao Bian, to stop the Mongolians.

Liutiao Bian was named because of the willows planted along the Great Wall. Willows are called Liu in Chinese.
