PLOT, CRITIQUE and NOTES

The life of an antifascist intellectual, Carlo (Volontè), send to the confinement in a village of Lucania. Under the narrative profile, Rosi faithfully transposes the autobiographic novel of Carlo Levi, but from the stylistic point of wiew he replaces the descriptive sobriety of the author with a grieved and a not very happy lyricism. The whole cast’s contribution is notable. Produced for the TV and reduced for the exit in cinemas. (P. Mereghetti “Dizionario dei film 1998”)
