Giuseppe Marotta (Naples 1902-1963). He moved to Milan in 1925, where he devoted to journalism. He is known for his stories, especially in the Neapolitan sphere, interwoven of humor, of fine observation of facts and characters, of an abundant but not indulgent sentimental vein. Writer and journalist, he collaborated to different newspapers (among which the" Messaggero della sera"), he composed varied screen-plays, cinema subjects and theatrical texts. Among his numerous volumes we remember: A Milano non fa freddo (1949), Gli alunni del sole (1952), Coraggio guardiamo (1953), Mai di galleria (1958), Gli alunni del tempo (1960) and La milanese , ripublished in the BUR (1986). We remember L'Oro di Napoli, published for the first time in 1947, from which the homonym film of De Sica was drawn. Of his comedies, written in collaboration with B. Randone, the most known is Il califfo Esposito (1956). |
