The Ancient Thracians-eternity and history immortality
The Thracians
are one of little nations, which have left indelible and lasting trace
in the memory of mankind during its millennial History. Huge is their role
for the development of the Balkan Peninsula.
It is
a pity, but the written information, which is found, is poor and does not
allowed us to formulate complete picture about them during The Late Eneolite
and the beginning of The Bronze Age. The scientists consider that these
horse tribes have appeared on the Balkan Peninsula during these two periods.
Origin of the name ''Thracians''
It is logical to ask ourselves: ''who are the Thracians? Where do they
come from? What lies in the name of this tribe, which have conquered our
world with the power of its spiritual heritage?''
At the very beginning the science couldn't give an answer to this question.
There is not exact answer. There are many conjectures some of them conflicting,
and renouncing their 's principles in their ambition to find the right
answer. The name ''Thracians'' is a compendious name of all the tribes,
which the Ancient World has taken as Thracian. The meaning of this ethnic
name is still obscure. For now the answer is that is how the Greek called
all the tribes, which were living North- east of them. The territory possessed
by them the Greek called THKAIKE, THREIKE or THRAKE, and the population
- THRAKES.
Most early the name THRAIKE/ THREIKE was mentioned by the singers of Omir,
they called by this name the lands, which were north as compared with Greece.
From 1500 BC by this name was marked the vast region between the Danube,
Black Sea, White Sea, The Sea of Marmora, and the rivers Struma and Mesta-
a territory possessed by different Thracian tribes.
