[Some Thoughts on Thought]
Thought is the first aspect of consciousness. It is the subjective aspect of it. Without thought, we would be a machine, looked at more closely in the Artificial Intelligence section of Consciousness. Our thoughts are really the experiences that we have during the day. They are the things that we think, but don't actually do anything physically. They are metaphysical, and therefore, unique to everyone.
Some people, though, would argue that thoughts have to be physical, everything is. That is the method that science uses to explain everything. But, let me ask you this, if your thoughts are truly just physical, biochemicals, and such, then they are not truly yours, are they? If your thoughts are made up of atoms, and cells, then they can be explained by science, and are, therefore predictable.
"For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he."
- Proverbs 2 3:7
Is this true? Most days, we decide whether we will have a good day or not. Many doctors believe that a great portion of all our pain can be healed just by our thoughts. You have all heard the expression "Laughter is the best cure", maybe this is more true than we think. Is it possible that laughter is a cure, and that a positive outlook can really make us live longer. Does depression do just the opposite?
