Brain Tour

How sweet things can be, how tasteless life could have been...

Taste Humans are able to differentiate four basic types of taste, namely, sour, sweet, sour and bitter. The taste buds on the tongue pucks up these tastes and the tongue is seperated into different regions that are most sensitive to each of the four basic tastes. The taste buds are found in recessed pits with the hair-like ends of the sensory receptors sticking out of these pits. A taste bud consists of sensory neurons, taste receptors and supporting cells. The sensory neurons transmit the information picked up by the receptors to the brain where they would be interpreted.
