An F4U Corsair from the USS Philippine Sea files combat air patrol over Inch'on anchorage, still filled with US supply vessels on Monday, 2 October 1950, over two weeks after the invasion. The battle ship USS Missouri , in the foreground , and a British light cruiser, partially obscured in the mist at the extreme upper left, flank the defenseless supply ships and provide additional anti aircraft protection from marauding North Korean Yak fighters.

 

Smoke from a two-day UN naval bombardment rises from Wolmi Island and the central harbor area beyond the jetty as Marines head south of the port to Blue Beach on the afternoon of Friday, 15 September 1950. Marines had landed on Wolmi's Green Beach on th morning high tide and quickly secured the island and its causeway to the mainland before the retreating waters isolated them from support.
