From sturdy irrigation systems and graceful bridges of the ancient past, the beauty of Renaissance domes and Baroque construction, to the modern buildings that are sleek and graceful, Italy has been at the forefront of architecture and building design. It is often those achievements that come to mind when we think of Italian science. But in the fields of medicine, physics, astronomy and math, Italians have made major contributions to the body of global knowledge.
