Luca Pacioli was a monk during the early Renaissance who translated many mathmatical theories from the Greek scholars. He wrote an encyclopedia about those theories as well as explained some basic bookkeeping techniques. He also developed some mathmatical theories about geometrical proportions on which he collaborated with Leonardo DaVinci.
