The Italian Embassy in Washington, DC, sent us many excellent guidebooks, tour guides, and other useful information on Italy. The materials did not appear to be copyrighted and they are government publications (which are usually not copyrighted); however, we requested a letter of permission from the embassy just to be sure. In the letter, the embassy gave us permission to use photographs and other things from these materials, with proper citations, in our project, so that is what we are doing.
